Season five, and we’re now at level 7. This is the last division outside the ‘playable divisions’ shipped with the base game
The expectations from the board were definitely realistic and achievable, so we could crack on knowing we didn’t have to push ourselves to perform miracles.
Ryman League Division One North
We started off the first couple of months with as many ups as downs, but it was still a decent start. We improved our consistency a great deal in the middle of the season, and looked as though we may be able to possibly win the division. Towards the end we tailed off and those three losses ultimately cost us the title. So this was the first season we hadn’t won the title! We had to play our first playoffs, and a 2-0 win was enough to see us past Cray Wanderers, but we were defeated by Hastings, the 1-0 scoreline flattered us. We’ll be here again next season.
What a run! We took the long way round but made it to the first round proper, where we played Charlton. We were well beaten but the money from gate receipts helped clear the bulk of our debt!
We made it further than previous seasons, until we met Conference Premier side Boston United. We were playing a weakened team though as we’d prioritised the league at this point.
The Alan Turvey Trophy
I didn’t really care about this one. I played a weakened team in all the games and we were lucky to get as far as the quarter final to be honest.
Paul Allen is a young winger who’ll be played as a backup to the backups. Brown is a backup centre back.
Joynes originally joined as a backup left back but was surplus to requirements so his contract wasn’t renewed. Addai is a newgen produced at the start of the career in the reserves who I’ve held onto because he can play a few positions but was moaning about lack of game time so I loaned him out until his contract expires. Joe Castle was a key player for the first few seasons but as retirement approached his mobility dropped. He’s joined the backroom staff now permanently as a scout.
End of Season Awards
Win promotion. Nothing else matters.
